FREEZIN’ FOR A REASON: SAFE HARBOR CAPITAL GROUP HELPS RAISE MONEY FOR THE SPECIAL OLYMPICS

The water may be a bone chilling 38 degrees but Dan Longaro from Safe Harbor Capital Group along with many others will be diving in to help raise money for the Special Olympics. The Polar Plunge is an event that is held every year that allows individuals, organizations and businesses the ability to help support the Special Olympics by raising money in a "cool" way. On Saturday March 18, 2006 at Bar Beach in Port Washington, NY caring people from all over Long Island will be jumping, crawling and splashing into the icy water of the Long Island Sound.
According to the Special Olympics, "The mission of the Special Olympics New York, Long Island Region is to provide year-round sports training and competition for close to 4,000 Long Island athletes who compete in 23 Olympic-style sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. There is never a cost to the athletes or their families." The Polar Plunge is just one way that people can help donate money to this great organization.
If you’re not willing to take the "plunge" there are many other ways to show your support by making monetary pledges and even volunteering for the organization. If you would like to help sponsor Dan Longaro, or any of the brave souls planning in participating in the polar plunge please contact the Special Olympics New York, Long Island Region at 631-254-1465 x 12, or visit their website at www.specialolympicsNY.org/longisland.php.
